Museums in the 21st Century: Concepts, Projects, Buildings explores current transformations in architecture, as museums redefine their roles as cultural centers that have many functions, including entertainment and education. The museum interiors and exteriors modeled in this exhibition reflect a range of responses to the new and expanded visions of museums in the 21st century.

How the West Is One: The Art of New Mexico

How the West Is One: The Art of New Mexico, organizes key objects from the museum's collections so that they outline an intercultural history of New Mexico art, from the arrival of railroads in 1879 to the present. This long term exhibition presents 70 works by Native American, Hispanic, and European-American artists which illustrate the changing aesthetic ideals that have evolved within southwestern art over the last 125 years.

Georgia O'Keeffe's Legacy in New Mexico

Georgia O'Keeffe's Legacy in New Mexico, curated by Joseph Traugott, features gems from the permanent collection that had long been out of public view. The museum's collection of O'Keeffe paintings underscores her accomplishments in New Mexico, which have become icons of the Southwest.
