Alternative Spaces
Eight New Mexico artists created works in the museum's architectural nooks and crannies and public spaces not typically used for the display of artwork, including St. Francis Auditorium, the lobby and its fireplace, stairwells, and the façade. Opened Feb, 2009.

100 Years of the Museum of New Mexico
The Territorial Legislature established the Museum of New Mexico in 1909, which has continued to develop since, to include four museums and six monuments, telling the stories of New Mexico.

Pulling Strings: The Art and Marionettes of Gustave Baumann
Initially to amuse his daughter, Gustave Baumann created a troupe of beautifully-crafted puppets who told stories of both whimsy and serious thought. The Pulling Strings exhibit opened in February, 2009, to the delight of old fans and young children.

The Show
Since 1951 the Museum of Art has organized juried exhibitions that reflect the broad range of contemporary art being produced in New Mexico and the greater Southwest. This online exhibition was developed to complement the 2003 juried show, The Show.

Looking Back: interactions
Looking Back: Interactions was originally developed to complement a temporary exhibition at the Museum of Fine Art. The exhibition, on display from January 25 through May 12, 2002, celebrated the 85th anniversary of the opening of the museum in 1917.
