FLUX: Reflections on Contemporary Glass

On display Jun 07, 2008 - Sep 21, 2008

Glass is a malleable, ever-changing material that can be worked employing a variety of techniques to produce a vast spectrum of works. It is used to make intricately detailed, fragile vessels yet has the strength and density to be used in constructing skyscrapers.

This exhibition considers the sculptural possibilities of glass, from vessel to minimalist sculpture, blown glass to cast glass, ancient artifact to popular culture icon. Many of the acknowledged international "masters" of glass are included in the exhibition, among them William Morris, Stanislav Libensky and Jaroslava Brychtova, Dante Marioni, Dale Chihuly, Lino Tagliapietra and Bertil Vallien, as are New Mexico's own glass artists Charlie Miner, Timothy Horn, Tony Jojola, Stacey Neff, and Mary Shaffer, among others.
