Miguel Gandert identifies himself as a Nuevo Mexicano and a documentary photographer. Both sides of his family have lived for generations in northern New Mexico and their home is still located in the small town of Mora. He is also a professor in the Department of Communication and Journalism at the University of New Mexico.
