This year we are celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Museum of New Mexico system and the opening of the New Mexico History Museum in Santa Fe. The state has a long history of appreciating and supporting museums and this is reflected in a large number of museums throughout the state The four museums in this exhibition represent diversity of location, origin, and collections. Whether they grew out of a local historical society, from Works Progress Administration funding, as a branch museum of the Museum of New Mexico, or as a research component of a university, each of these institutions provides outstanding exhibitions and programs both for and about their community.
