Georgia OKeeffe and Frida Kahlo in Parallel Photograph Essay by Cristina Kahlo
- August 09, 2024
5:30 PM - 6:30 PM - Plaza Building
Join us for a presentation by Cristina Kahlo, the acclaimed Mexican contemporary photographer. Kahlo will present a body of work that is a visual conversation through the intimate living and studio spaces of artists Georgia O’Keeffe and Frida Kahlo. This project was born in 2022, when Cristina was invited to photograph her great-aunt Frida’s home studio in commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the Casa Azul Museum. In 2023, Cristina traveled to Santa Fe and photographed O’Keeffe’s Ghost Ranch and Abiquiú homes.
“It was an immense privilege to enter the intimacy of Georgia and Frida’s personal habitats and beloved objects,” says Cristina. “Their spirits remain very much alive in these spaces.”
