Gus on the Bus!: Puppets and Printmaking on the Plaza

A joint program of the New Mexico Museum of Art, the New Mexico History Museum, and Wonders on Wheels Mobile Museum. Please join us for a fun-filled, all-ages event all about the marionettes and woodblock landscapes of beloved New Mexico artist Gustave Baumann.  Come tour the Baumann exhibit onboard the Wonders on Wheels mobile museum, and learn how to manipulate a marionette!  

Make your own marionette at the craft station in the lobby of the Museum of Art.  You can also learn how to make a color woodblock print using replicas of Baumann’s blocks.  

In the St. Francis Auditorium, a panel of speakers will discuss new approaches to Baumann’s artworks, highlighting the new Ann Baumann Trust Collection of Gustave Baumann materials at the Fray Angelico Chavez History Library.  Replicas of Baumann’s marionettes will also be on display!
