Is there anything more enjoyable than looking at art and talking about books?  We at the Museum Library don’t think so and that’s why we host an art-themed book club!

Our next Book Club will be Sunday May 3 at the historic Plaza Building. We will be reading Driving Mr. Albert: A Trip Across America with Einstein’s Brain by Michael Paterniti. Described as, “part travelogue, part memoir, part history, part biography, and part meditation, Driving Mr. Albert is one of the most unique road trips in modern literature,” this title should generate discussion that pairs well with two exhibitions that will be on view, Roadside Attractions and Rooted Strong: Visions of American from New Mexico.

Roadside Attractions celebrates the centennial of Route 66 and the enduring romance of the American road trip through the lenses of photographers who were prone to wander. Rooted Strong speaks to another anniversary this year, the semiquincentennial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, with a look at the histories, lands, and peoples of New Mexico that have shaped our state and subsequently its place within the American narrative.

Join us for a discussion of Driving Mr. Albert accompanied by an exploration of the gallery exhibitions for themes, ideas, and experiences raised by the text.
