The New Mexico Museum of Art presents its fall performance in its Silent Film Series: The Phantom of the Opera (1925). Screened in our 1917 St. Francis Auditorium with accompaniment by organist David Solem on the McNary Pipe Organ few films would fit the spirit of the season like The Phantom of the Opera (1925). Based on Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel and directed by Rupert Julian, this film stars silent horror film icon Lon Chaney as the ghastly Phantom who lurks the halls and catacombs of the famous Paris Opera House. Mary Philbin and Norman Kerry also star in this silent horror film classic.
