Smarter Smartphone Photography Workshop

In this three-day workshop, participants will learn tips on context, framing, composition, angles, lines, focus, light, exposure, DIY modifications, mobile editing, color or black and white photography. This introductory workshop covers tips and basic information on content and composition that will benefit photographs made with any kind of camera. Common editing functions and camera controls found in smartphone applications are also explored! A smartphone or other mobile device that can take photographs are the only required materials.

This inaugural workshop will be led by the Museum’s Head of Education, Chris Nail. Join the New Mexico Museum of Art to discover how to get the most out of your smartphone camera!

Chris Nail is the Head of Education for the New Mexico Museum of Art. Before coming to the Museum, Chris served as a faculty member and technician for the photography programs at the College of Santa Fe and Santa Fe University of Art and Design for 12 years. He currently serves as the Photography Club mentor for St. John’s College, Santa Fe. He holds an M.F.A. in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Working across a wide range of photographic media, Chris is a big believer in using the photographic media that best serves the image you are trying to make. Often times, that may come down to what camera you happen to have on you at the time, and that camera is often the one in your phone!

This workshop will meet at the Vladem Classroom, Sept. 25, 27 and 29 from 11AM – 12:30PM.

$55 for entire workshop (Museum admission included)
