Family Art Making

Join us for a fun drop-in art making session at the Vladem Contemporary. Explore the galleries to find inspiration and enjoy the power of creating with your loved ones and friends. Light snacks will be available.

In September we will make hand-built clay creations with New Mexico Sheepdog fiber clay, which dries without firing.

Inspired by Virgil Ortiz’s exhibition Continuum: Blindfall First Strike, currently on exhibit at the Vladem Contemporary, families will use the coil method to create their own sculptural work that can be air‑dried and painted. For centuries, people have harvested clay from the land and used various methods to make pottery.
